If you've driven through Mariners' Mile or along 17th Street in Newport Beach lately, you've probably noticed something exciting happening. Some of Newport Beach's most iconic locations are getting a fresh new look with nationally recognized restaurants, luxury grocery stores, and exciting dining concepts that are making these two areas even more of a destination.
As someone who lives, works, and spends far too much time exploring Newport Beach (all in the name of research, of course), I couldn't be more excited about what's happening. Whether you're looking for a waterfront dinner, an incredible sushi experience, healthy bites, or simply a great place to grab cocktails with friends, there's never been a better time to eat your way through Newport Beach.
Here are the restaurants and businesses I'm most excited about.
One of Los Angeles' most exclusive celebrity hotspots is making its way to Newport Beach. The Nice Guy is taking over the former Guacamigos location and is expected to bring its signature upscale Italian menu, handcrafted cocktails, and trendy atmosphere to Mariners' Mile.
If it's anything like its West Hollywood location, expect this to become one of Newport Beach's hottest dinner reservations.
Taking over the former The Whaler location, Flecha Cantina is one of the most anticipated restaurant openings of the year.
Co-founded by actor Mark Wahlberg, Flecha combines elevated Mexican cuisine, handcrafted margaritas, premium tequila, and a lively atmosphere designed for everything from happy hour to late-night celebrations. Opening is expected in September 2026, and I have a feeling this place is going to become an instant Newport Beach favorite.
Foodies throughout Orange County have been patiently waiting for Uchi to arrive to Newport Beach.
Known nationally for its award-winning modern Japanese cuisine, creative sushi, and unforgettable omakase experiences, Uchi has built a cult following. The combination of exceptional seafood, innovative flavors, and flawless presentation makes this one of the biggest restaurant openings Newport Beach has seen in years. I can't wait to try it as the sushi looks like an experience all by itself! No thrills, just good food!
If Mediterranean food is your love language, Nēsos Newport Beach deserves a spot at the top of your list.
Inspired by the Greek islands and built around the traditions of family, hospitality, and sharing meals together, Nēsos offers beautifully prepared seafood, grilled meats, fresh vegetables, and authentic Greek flavors. It's the kind of restaurant where dinner easily turns into a three-hour evening with friends—and honestly, isn't that exactly how Mediterranean dining is supposed to be?
Yes... Erewhon is officially coming to Newport Beach.
Whether you're already an Erewhon regular or just curious what all the hype is about, this luxury grocery store is much more than a place to buy groceries. From organic produce and premium wellness products to their famous smoothies and prepared meals, Erewhon has developed an almost cult-like following throughout Southern California.
Its arrival on 17th Street is another sign that this corridor continues attracting upscale shopping and lifestyle brands.
Already becoming a neighborhood favorite, Bear Flag Fish Co. continues to prove why Newport Beach loves fresh seafood.
Whether you're ordering poke bowls, sushi burritos, grilled fish, or one of their famous lobster rolls, it's one of those casual spots you'll find yourself visiting again and again.
If you haven't made it to Nick's Newport Beach in the Westcliff Shopping Center yet, great location as so many homeowners in both Dover Shores and Newport Heights appreciate the convenience of the proximity to Nick's. It's become a neighborhood hotspot!
Since opening, the restaurant has been absolutely packed, and for good reason. Nick's has built a reputation throughout Southern California for consistently excellent twist on American food, incredible service, and an atmosphere that's equally perfect for date night, family dinners, or meeting clients.
Sometimes all the hype really is deserved.
One of Newport Beach's newest luxury dining experiences quietly opened in July 2026 inside Lido House Hotel, and it's already generating buzz.
Kaiya Omakase + Bar features just 12 seats at its intimate sushi counter, allowing chefs to create an incredibly personalized tasting experience centered around seasonal seafood and Japanese craftsmanship.
If you're celebrating a special occasion—or simply appreciate exceptional sushi—this should absolutely be on your list.
After dinner, walk over to Go Greek Yogurt, one of Newport Beach's newest dessert destinations that's already drawing lines out the door.
Unlike traditional frozen yogurt, Go Greek specializes in authentic Greek yogurt that's naturally high in protein, packed with probiotics, and generally lower in sugar and calories than ice cream. Add fresh fruit, honey, nuts, granola, chocolate, or any of their other toppings, and you've got the perfect dessert that somehow manages to feel both indulgent and healthy.
It's safe to say Newport Beach has officially found its newest sweet obsession.
As a Realtor, I always tell clients they're not just buying a home—they're buying a lifestyle.
The continued investment happening along Mariners' Mile and 17th Street makes Newport Beach even more desirable. Walkable neighborhoods, incredible restaurants, boutique shopping, waterfront dining, and exciting new businesses all contribute to the quality of life that makes Newport Beach one of Southern California's most sought-after places to call home.
Whether you're a lifelong local or considering moving here, there's never been a better time to explore everything Newport Beach has to offer.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a very difficult decision to make... Mediterranean, sushi, tacos, or frozen Greek yogurt.
The only downside? You're probably going to need more dinner reservations.
